nouveau flamenco
ottmar liebert
higher octave, 1990
Mood—Like a waterfall.
Sample: "Santa Fe"
Thoughts— This is one of the first CDs I remember owning, and I'm not sure if I bought it or just stole it from my parents' collection.
I don't own any other flamenco albums, because Ottmar Liebert crafted a rather nice "new age" take on the classic style, and I own it. Nouveau Flamenco is expert.
It's good to have a collection of music that is great for background but can also be listened to intently. When it's background the tracks ebb an flow, and nothing seems out of place. When you have time to really listen to it, Ottmar's guitar work is quite impressive.
My only criticism is the naming convention of each track. I'm just no a fan of when '2' is used for 'to', and so on. Numbers are not words!
He's got a lot of albums, actually, but if you don't have this one, you need to get it.
